He was a cameraman, air personality, sports commentator, sports show host, even was intern station manager at KXRQ Radio at the young age of 19. Later, he entered the retail management sector, winning dozens of awards and still holding many sales records. Years later though, he went back to Radio, as Sales Manager and then started doing regional radio commercials. He excelled, and was then called upon to do regional television commercials. He wrote and directed several TV commercials and assisted in producing a couple. He enjoyed the managerial part of the productions, thus being very effective in budgeting retail and business gave him an edge. He then decided to turn his attention to national TV shows and feature films. He got an agent in Memphis, TN who got him his first gig as a featured extra in the short run Showtime series, “Going To California”. He then auditioned for a part on the hit TV series “Dawson's Creek” and worked on 6 episodes as a stockbroker. He landed an international modeling job with Metro Creative Graphics out of New York, being a handyman and new homeowner. He did extensive work as the “Aquarium Employee” on the NBC Series “Surface”, and worked as a stand-in and extras casting assistant for the whole season. Terry’s first principal part was in the vampire movie “Integro” where he played the cocky soldier “Crow” who battles the bloodsuckers. He then played a principal part in the short Above and Beyond,” as the local TV “Anchorman” who breaks the murder news to the public. He also was cast in the BBC Documentary Series “Days That Shook The World” segment; The Battle of Midway, which appears on the History Channel playing the “Lieutenant” who gives the Japanese coordinates to Admiral Spruance after Pearl Harbor. He was also featured in the long running hit TV show “One Tree Hill” as Whitey Durham’s “Assistant Coach”. He was featured in the Indie film, “Three Words and a Star” as the “MTV Assistant Director” and as a “Battle Royale Gambler” in the highest budgeted Indie film in history, “Bolden,” directed by Dan Pritzker and Academy Award Winning Cinematographer, Vilmos Szigmond. He played “The Grocer” in Winton Marsalis musical “Louis.” And worked as a Stand In and Extras Casting Assistant for Pritzker . Terry was a “Reporter” in the pilot for the HBO series “East Bound and Down” and later, after the series was picked up, was called upon to play Mr. Schaffer’s (Played by Will Ferrell) “Salesman #3” in the second episode. He was then cast as the lead in the promo and feature film, “Fish Hook” as the legendary and real life Kentucky Sheriff Bill Witten. Filmmaker Linwood Mooring requested Terry to Produce and assist in Directing, which he is. Principle photography will begin early 2011. Terry met screenwriter Ritchie Greer in 2006 on the set of the WB/CW”s hit show “One Tree Hill and partnered with him on a couple screenplays, “FAST” and “Ho Ho Ho Mr. President. This was also the beginning of many projects for Terry as a writer. He just played the PA Announcer in the upcoming Walmart/PG NBC Television movie, “Home and Away” directed by Doug Barr. Terry is currently working on a national children’s TV show entitled, “The Kids Health Club Show” which is designed to bring together parents, children, restaurants, and food retailers in targeting the problems in nutrition and fitness with America’s youth, having written the first episode. Terry is producing and directing the fictitious outlaw motorcycle club comedy/drama entitled, “Southern Iron”, which he co-wrote and has just finished the script, “Scars That Heal”, about a real life social service worker’s unforgettable story of abuse, loss of life and faith. Terry currently is producing features, such as; “Fast”, “Scars That Heal”, “Southern Iron”, “Fish Hook”, “Big Money” and “Ho Ho Ho Mr. President”. Terry currently co-owns Big Jack Films, LLC with Michael Hatfield, and have 9 projects in the works. The newly developed company is positioning themselves to produce at least 3 features a year, with multiple deals slated. He has four children and currently resides in Wilmington, NC with his family. While attending Gordon Military College and his second year at LSU in Baton Rouge pursuing a BA degree in speech and drama Mike worked on weekly FM radio short drama segments. Mike then followed his calling to the US Army, 101st. Airborne Division. While on active dutywith a parachute regiment Mike worked with special services producing entertainment events for the troops at Fort Campbell, Ky. Following active duty Mike went direct to Atlanta and enrolled in Georgia State College resuming his studies in Drama and History. At this time he auditioned as a resident player in a Peachtree theatre group called Georgia Players, then associated with the early Atlanta Alliance Theatre Group. It was here that Mike began serious acting study and work. In the following two years Mike performed over forty lead roles in plays such as Laura, The Tender Trap, Neal Simons The Odd Couple, and showcase events in association with equity Theatre Atlanta Alliance. Having been previously trained as a commercial aviator Mike accepted employment as a pilot with Southern Airways that served Atlanta and NY City. Taking an apartment on 86th. St. in Manhattan Mike set to work in the city on his acting when not flying on the NY City-Atlanta run on DC9 Jets. “It worked out great,” Mike said, “I was connected to talent agents in both cities and divided my time between them for over five years.” In NYC Mike enrolled in Herbert Burhoff School of Acting and polished accents and speech skills with Alford Dixon School of Speech and the Wiese Baron Commercial T.V. Group. Soon he was landing DC-9’s at LaGuardia while doing day player work on various police and drama shown in NYC such as NYPD episodes “Who Tells The Truth”, “Body In The Trunk” “Moving On” and many others. Films and commercials followed with a small part in “Slaves” which featured Ossie Davis. Agents in NYC and Atlanta were placing Mike in commercials and films. Network exposure grew with a Stokley Bean commercial and the original “It’s Shake N’Bake and I Helped” TV ad that had Mike as first principal supporting. For the next five to eight years Mike worked on T.V. for products such as Winston Cigarettes, Challenge Shampoo, Jim Danny Dog Food, Auto Lite Spark Plugs, Wrigley Gum and other network spots as well as many regional commercials out of Atlanta. During this time Mike flew to New Orleans and auditioned for a small part in 20th Century Fox “The Undefeated”. He worked throughout that film as private Carlisle and followed it with a part as a policeman in the feature “Together for Days”. While working in Government training films Mike performed in certain public service spots for the Tampa Lions Club sight conversation programs. Here he accepted a bid from the Lions Club to produce The Lions American Bowl Game. With Vietnam winding down Mike syndicated 109 T.V. stations and aired the Ball Game with spectacular half time events and Ross Perot as American of the Year. During the course of football production and the Lions Club T.V. spots Mike met producer Robert Emory who cast Mike as “Scratch” in the title role character of “Willy and Scratch” a low budget western with Playmate of the year Claudia Jennings. After continued appearing in Atlanta produced documentaries and more regional television spots, Mike filed application with the Federal Aviation Administration in June of 1991 to own and operate Air Classic Cargo, a cargo airline. As president of Air Classic Cargo, Mike administered all aspects of company airline development and marketing events. This included acquisition of capitol equipment including aircraft costing $220,000.00 and more. Aero Engineering was accomplished with Aero Dynamic modifications to convert passenger aircraft to cargo configuration, with many conferences and interaction with Federal Aviation inspectors. Additional administration duties included daily scheduling of flights over Florida and Bahamas and as far north as Canada. At the height of commercial activity Mike was operating 280 flights per month and employing and training eight pilots and four mechanics, with cash flow of over $65,000.00 per month. His planes flew for DHL, UPS, Airborne and others on contracts negotiated by Mike. Mike oversaw all operational events including fuel purchasing, insurance, payroll, maintenance and training. No law suits were ever filed against Hatfield or his company during the tenure of flight operations. Mike still maintains his personal Equifax credit rating score of over 700. His company enjoyed a perfect safety record with no injuries or death to his employees. The company was sold in July 2006. Immediately Mike rekindled his interest in visual productions by auditioning and appearing in more T.V. commercials. Presently he has two commercials playing in various markets; BlueCross/BlueShield and March of Dimes.
